That’s right folks — we Americans will celebrate anything! People who give us the weather (where would we be without them?) and a stack of flap-jacks — what’s not to ‘flip’ over?
Today is both National Weatherman’s Day and National Pancake Day in the USA — Shazam!
First, wish your weatherman a good day–they get so little recognition, you know–and then head on over to IHOP to enjoy a free stack of their buttermilk pancakes. This event is for today only, Feb. 5 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is a catch. In exchange for a free stack you are asked to leave a voluntary donation to help Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities in your area.
Last year the chain raised more than 3 million for charities! They hope to top that in 2013. The charities do receive 100 percent of the proceeds raised. IHOP keeps zero, just in case you are wondering if there is another hitch to this freebie. There isn’t. Over the eight years IHOP has done this the chain has raised over 10 million — all going to charities.
But hurry if you want a free stack because supplies are limited and only served to dine-in folks and only at participating restaurants.
While you enjoy the pancakes please do leave a voluntary donation. That’s how it works. They’ll gladly give you a free stack but please don’t eat free, leave with a full tummy and a happy heart that gave all you can afford to your charity of choice.
